LETS PI Receives the College Outstanding Knowledge Transfer & Impact Award

On 17 June 2026, Dr. Jijian Xu, Principal Investigator of the Laboratory of Energy Transformation & Sustainability (LETS) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, received the Outstanding Knowledge Transfer & Impact Award (CSCI-KTIA) at the College of Science Graduation Ceremony.

Established by the College of Science, the award recognizes faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to knowledge transfer, research translation, and societal impact. With a maximum of two awardees each year, the award aims to encourage faculty members to translate research outcomes into industrial, public, and societal applications, to cultivate impactful research cases with broad influence.

The College of Science Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2026

This award recognizes LETS’ continued efforts to integrate high-level fundamental research with application-oriented translation. The team has been conducting frontier research in advanced battery materials, electrolyte design, and interfacial regulation, with related findings published in international journals including Nature Energy and Nature Communications.

Building on this research foundation, LETS further addresses key challenges in industrial development by collaborating with leading battery companies and promoting the translation of high-performance battery and sustainable energy technologies from laboratory research to practical applications. Previously, the team received a Gold Medal with Jury Congratulations and a Silver Medal at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva. After nearly three years of development, LETS has begun to establish a research framework that connects fundamental studies with industrial applications.

Taking this award as a new starting point, LETS will continue to support technological innovation through high-level fundamental research and explore sustainable energy solutions for real-world application scenarios. On the occasion of the College of Science Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2026, we also extend sincere congratulations to all graduates and look forward to working with more outstanding students, young researchers, and industrial partners to advance the development and application of next-generation battery technologies.
