Principal Investigator
JIJIAN XU, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemistry
City University of Hong Kong
Prof. Xu specializes in advanced electrolytes and novel electrode materials for high-energy batteries.
He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed papers in Nature, Science, Nature Energy, Nature Synthesis, Nature Reviews Chemistry, Joule, Advanced Materials, etc., holds more than 10 patents, and commercialized his innovations.
Prof. Jijian Xu obtained both his B.S. and Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2014 and 2019, respectively. After a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship under Prof. Chunsheng Wang, he was appointed as an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Maryland. In 2023, he joined the City University of Hong Kong and started his research group.
Prof. Xu is actively involved in a wide range of professional services to the research communities and society.

The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$331,200 (approximately US$42,460) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,800 (approximately US$1,760) per year for each awardee for a period up to three years.
Students with strong academic backgrounds in science and engineering (GPA ≥ 90/100), good English communication ability (TOFEL ≥ 100, IELTS Band 7 or above) and strong interests in energy research are welcomed to contact Prof. Xu (jijianxu@cityu.edu.hk) with CV for further information.
